Dubbed the Fish Fire, the blaze exploded up and across the canyons above Duarte, burning 1,000 acres within just two hours of burning. By 9:00 p.m. PST, the Fish Fire had spread to over 3,000 acres (12 km 2). The Colby Fire was a wildfire in the Angeles National Forest. It was ignited along the Colby Truck Trail in the San Gabriel Mountains in northern Los Angeles County, United States. The fire started on January 16, 2014, and eventually burned 1,992 acres. On January 25, the Colby Fire had burned 1,962 acres, and was 98% contained.
An update from the LA County Sheriff's Department shortly before 8:30 p.m. local time said the most intense fire activity was occurring on the southwestern side of the fire.
