College De La Salle Frères is a private Catholic school in Amman, Jordan. The school was established in 1950 [1] and is sponsored by the Institute of the Brothers of the Christian Schools, also known as the De La Salle Brothers. It is part of a network of such schools operating in 80 countries around the world.

Originally, the area was a wide, open space along the valley that separated the city's two hills, Jabal Amman and Jabal Qal'a. [2] Following the establishment of the Amman municipality in 1909, a municipal building was constructed, and the area it faced consequently became known as Municipality Street or Square. [3]
The current bishop is Sani Ibrahim Azar, [3] who was elected in 2017 and consecrated as bishop on 14 January 2018. The bishop emeritus, Munib Younan , retains an official role. Younan is the former president of the Lutheran World Federation (2010–2017), [ 4 ] and remains a member of the ELCJHL Council.
