The Dublin International Film Festival was established in 2003. It was revived by Michael Dwyer, international film critic and The Irish Times chief film correspondent, along with David McLoughlin, film producer. Handsome Devil premiered in the Contemporary World Cinema section of the 2016 Toronto International Film Festival and was released in cinemas in Ireland on 21 April 2017 by Icon Film Distribution. The film received critical acclaim, winning the award for Best Irish Feature of 2017 from the Dublin Film Critics' Circle .
The 6th Dublin Film Critics' Circle Awards, given on December 23, 2011, honored the best in film for 2011. The crime Drive became the most successful film of this year's ceremony, won three awards, including Best Film.
