That era of Ping'shad a distinct style, it felt like it was an early attempt to modernize the brand. The G15 worked, and the K15 was distinct. The G15 / 20 hybrids were unique, probably the best example of what a 'hybrid' would look like had none existed before. I have a 31* with a steel shaft that just works. Quote.
G10/G15/G20 are almost identical, just minor differences in the lofts for the G10's (weaker), and sole width (wider) for the G20's. Honestly, I'd target some G10's if value is important to you. There are brand new sets being liquidated on ebay for unheard of prices (for Ping clubs). You can't go wrong, just make sure to get a set that fits you ...
The biggest difference in the 3 models is the stock shaft. G5's had the CS Lite, whereas the G10 and G15 have the AWT which is a more flighted shaft and much better IMO. Also, the soles got progressively wider from the 5 to 10 to 15. The 10's and 15's also have more toe weight towards to bottom of the club.
G10 - G15 was a bigger step than G15 - G20. Distance will depend on what your ideal launch conditions are, but in general I believe they have gotten slightly longer with each update. However, the key is optimization. A G10 with the perfect shaft for you will outperform a G20 with an ill-fitting shaft.
Ping were disappointed with Rapture & V2 sales, so they learn nothing and release a new range at the same price point which sadly makes the G15 & i15 look more economically sound. [/quote] Unlike the Rapture V2 when it was introduced, the K15 driver and woods are at the same price point as the G15, at least in the US.
Total Rating 0%. Posted April 3, 2012. I currently have the 17° and 23° G20's. While I never owned the G15's, I have hit them numerous times. For me, the G20's are noticeably better than the G15. I like the fact the G15/20 are more iron-like than other hybrids, but the G15 did not kick my TM rescues out of the bag.
Total Rating 100%. Posted October 14, 2011. I have the Ping G15 Irons all with the AWT X-Flex Soft Stepped once, 1/4" over std which is std for Titleist irons (which I used to play) Swingweight now is D1 in the 4-PW and the wedges are UW-D4, SW-D5 & LW-D6 respectively.
I had a G15 with Soft-R flex TFC shaft marked as 12 degrees of loft. It was half an inch under standard length, about 45-1/4". Saw a G25 marked 9.5 degrees with R flex TFC-189 and decided to try it into the net in the store. It had been special ordered 1" under standard and then not purchased.
G15 is easier to draw, but also easier to hook. Anser loses very little distance on an off center strike. Distance - Flip a coin here. Both are great. I will say that my best swings with the Anser are the longest drives that I have ever hit. Launch/Spin - Anser is very low spin and launches a bit lower than the G15.
I saw the difference, however slight. By comparison with the i15, they are much longer and have a higher flight. But every hybrid model they had hits as straight as an arrow. The i15 is forgiving and actually is more visually appealing, but the K15 was just superior to them and the G15.
