Beefeater is a chain of over 140 pub restaurants in the United Kingdom, owned by Whitbread. [ 1 ] The chain's name references both the English figure of the beefeater and its menu's meat (particularly beef) offering.

Berni Inn was sold to Whitbread in 1995, who converted the outlets into their own Beefeater restaurants. [3] Aldo Berni died in 1997 at the age of 88 in Bristol. Frank died 10 July 2000, aged 96, in Jersey. [4] [8] Their brother Marco managed Harvey's Restaurant in Bristol in the 1960s. [4]
These sites were converted into Harvester, Toby Carvery and other pub/restaurant brands. In 2008, it bought 44 more standalone Beefeater and Brewers Fayre sites, in exchange for 21 Express by Holiday Inn hotels. [5]
The Toby Carvery brand took over many former Beefeater sites. Fuzzy's Grub was a noted but short-lived carvery chain in London , founded in 2002 and voted "Best Traditional British Restaurant, but all but the carv in London" in Harden's 2007 guide before going out of business in 2008.
The pub serves several unique drinks, including a "Beefeater bitter" and "Yeoman 1485" beers (1485 refers to the year the Beefeaters were founded). It also features copious amounts of Beefeater Gin. [1] [4] The pub enforces a strict formal dress code. [3]
