Prior to venturing to the water or hitting the field, the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department (TPWD) reminds hunters and anglers to purchase their new licenses for the 2024-25 season.
TPWD publishes Texas Parks and Wildlife, a monthly magazine available both in print and online editions. The magazine features articles and full-color photos on topics such as birding, boating, camping, fishing, hunting, state parks, travel, wildlife, and environmental issues. Texas Parks and Wildlife has been in publication since 1942. [14]

The park has a wide variety of wildlife. Among its bird species is the endangered golden-cheeked warbler , which nests in Ashe juniper trees during the summer. Fish species in the lake include bream, crappie, catfish, and largemouth bass.
