The Dukes are led by first-year head coach Preston Spradlin and play their home games at the Atlantic Union Bank Center in Harrisonburg, Virginia as members of the Sun Belt Conference.
They won the 2024 NCAA Division I men's basketball tournament, becoming the first back-to-back National Champions since Florida (who won the tournament in 2006 and 2007). They were the first team since the tournament expanded to 64 teams in 1985 (therefore requiring six victories to win the championship), to win every game by at least 14 points.
