Tennaco bought Viscosity after purchasing the AG side of IH. They sold it to Pennzoil in 95. It has sold several times since and is now owned by Petronas, a Malaysian petroleum company. Viscosity has oil blending contracts with companies to make their oils (CHS, DA, Warren and others) Interesting read but a few years old.

They are the originator of HyTran, working with IH to develop the oil IH wanted for transmission/hydraulic oil. Within the last year or so, CNH has stepped away from Viscosity ...
I just read an article in the delta farm press that viscosity oil company is bringing out their own line of oils including hydraulic fluid. I found this interesting. They make oils for cih, new holland, link belt and cub cadet. They have the ability to make good oil. If they will just put it in a yellow bucket it would be perfect! TThx-Ace.

Said from a chemistry standpoint, it it a better product and half the price. It exceeds the B6 spec, but is not designed for the newer equipment with the CVT's. So in recap, its my opinion, that you can lube your hytrans requirement tractor for half the price of the OE Hytrans, and have a better product for roughly half the price.
It gets confusing with the viscosity oil products. They do not make any of the oil they sell. It was made by 3 big companies. Cenex, d-a lubricants and Warner distribution. So the low ash irrigation oil mentioned is probably same base. Warner makes Mag 1 oil and other brands. D-A oil has their own brand.
Posted January 23, 2008. We ruun 15w-40 oil in all our diesel & gas engines except for the car & p/u. and have for years. I discussed switching oils with our CIH service manager and with a Viscosity Oil rep (company that makes CIH oils & for most other leading equipment manufacturers) and both recomended switching.

CNH keeps saying a price decrease of 20-30% for Hy-Tran Premium as compared to Hy-Tran Ultraction. The price difference is one of the biggest drivers behind this change.
