Gospel reggae is a genre of music that originated in Jamaica, mixing reggae rhythms with Christian-themed lyrics. Several reggae artists, many of whom were previously part of the Rastafari movement , have converted to Christianity and adopted gospel reggae as their primary style.

Eddie Lovette (born Eddie Lovett, 1943 – April 29, 1998) was a Coconut Grove reggae musician. He recorded six albums, that all have a strong Caribbean influence. Lovette was born in the town of Cairo in the state of Georgia. He was the fourth of ten children. When he was nine years old, he joined the Cairo Echo Jr's gospel singing group.
Rupie Edwards was born in Goshen, in Saint Ann Parish. [1] The family moved to Kingston in 1958, where he sang in talent contests, including those run by Vere Johns. [1] He was spotted by producer S.L. Smith, for whom he recorded his debut single, "Guilty Convict" b/w "Just Because", released on Smith's Hi=Lite label nd licensed to Blue Beat Records in 1962.
