Hellrung & Grimm was a St. Louis based furniture store run by the Hellrung and Grimm families. [1] The company sponsored several athletic teams including soccer teams. In 1929, a team, known as Hellrungs , sponsored by the company, entered the city's first division league, the St. Louis Soccer League , playing under that name until 1931.
Art Van Furniture – Founded in 1959 in Warren, MI, and operated over 300 stores and outlets in 7 states. On March 5, 2020, Art Van Furniture announced it would liquidate all of their company owned stores and file for chapter 11 bankruptcy.
The founder's son, George Welch Simmons, started working his way up through the company in 1901, with a salary of $20 a week for driving trucks to the St. Louis warehouse. In 1904, he became the general manager and then later the vice-president of all the warehouses. Simmons was a Distinguished Successful Americans of his Day in 1912. [3]
