U.S. Route 29 or U.S. Highway 29 (US 29) is a north–south United States Numbered Highway that runs for 1,043.3 miles (1,679.0 km) from Pensacola, Florida, to Ellicott City, Maryland, just west of Baltimore, Maryland, in the Eastern United States, connecting the Florida Panhandle to the Washington–Baltimore combined statistical area.

On July 17, 1934, SH 29 was rerouted to end in Karnes City, replacing part of SH 80 and part of SH 112. On November 27, 1934, SH 29 Spur was created in Goliad. [8] On January 19, 1935, it was rerouted back to Refugio over part of SH 80. The old route was transferred back to SH 80 and SH 112. [9]

US 29 followed a route initially designated as Maryland Route 27 (MD 27), while today's MD 27 was designated as Maryland Route 29 (MD 29). The first MD 27 emerged from Washington DC along Colesville Road, then followed US 29's existing route as far as White Oak , where it turned north along MD 650 and followed its alignment as far as Ashton .
