The repair tech said that he has replaced over 20 capacitors in the past week. He had a stash on his truck. We paid the entire bill and then after he had left called the office back after we realized we were still in warranty. She called Trane and they honored the warranty. End of story.
Your warranty can be verified easily and there'd be no question Trane will cover the part (unless you're on your third compressor or something). I don't see any reason to charge for the part if it's under warranty; however, you are responsible for paying labor, shipping, or processing fees unless you have a Trane Extended Warranty.
I am researching trane units and have a warranty question. Their website states the units carry a 5 year basic warranty. It then seems to imply if you register your warranty online or by phone it gives you an additional 5 years if it's for your primary residence and you are the original purchaser.
Trane doesn't give away parts like most other brands they fight you on warranty but I've never heard of them asking for maintenance records. I will say most parts returned under warranty are not in fact bad so I do understand where trane is coming from but I wish they weren't such a pain in the neck to deal with.
Reading it ( RunTru ) comes with a 10/5 warranty. 10 years compressor and coil warranty and 5 years parts. Air Handlers are 5 year parts and 10 year coil. Furnaces either 80% or 95% come with basic 20 year HX warranty and 5 years parts. No registration needed.

Even if they never registered it, the serial number should still be coming up in Trane's database. Also, I just checked, and confirmed that no registration was required to receive the full warranty for all Trane products made in 2020 and 2021. But, if Trane has no record of the unit ever being made, they could have trouble claiming the warranty.
part warranty would only cover any parts needed. so if its a spot on the copper line that can be brazed up, not really. unless you want to wait for $2.00 part to come in just to be trifling. condensor coil would be bigger issue, would be worth calling in warranty, but more labor involved. hopefully the tech would have sense to pump refer into ...
