Shottas is a 2002 Jamaican crime film about two young men who participate in organized crime in Kingston and Miami. It stars Ky-Mani Marley , Spragga Benz , Paul Campbell and Louie Rankin and was written, produced and directed by Cess Silvera.
In the late 1990s, Benz founded the Stay in School program which provided help for needy students in his hometown of Franklin Town. [7]Carlton "Carlyle" Grant Jr., his 17-year-old son who had played a younger version of Benz's character in the film Shottas, was killed by local police in Kingston, Jamaica, on 23 August 2008.
Rankin also performed notable acting roles as a Jamaican "gangsta", in the movies Shottas and Belly. He lived in Toronto, Ontario, Canada, and was considered "the real Jamaican Don Dada". Rankin was a member of the Screen Actors Guild.
The album was produced by a team of various producers, including Salaam Remi and Troy Taylor. It includes Lyttle's biggest hit "Turn Me On" and the second single "Last Drop", both recorded with contribution from Jamaica dancehall artist Spragga Benz, and the cover version of "Sign Your Name" by Terence Trent D'Arby.
Campbell grew up in Kintyre, St. Andrew before relocating to Kingston. [3] His career began in 1999 when his lyrics were recorded by Spragga Benz as "Shotta"; [2] He soon started recording himself, releasing his first single in 2000. [2]
In 2012, it was announced that Mavado would feature in a "Shottas 2" a sequel to the Shottas movie, which had starred Ky-Mani Marley and Spragga Benz. [16] In 2016, Mavado's song "Progress" on the Mineral Boss Records produced "Money Boss Riddim" was featured in DJ Khaled's Major Key album.

Lyttle signed with Atlantic Records in 2003 and a remixed version of "Turn Me On" was officially released as a single in the UK at the end of the year, with dancehall pop artist Spragga Benz's guest vocals.
