I started the application process for a Global Talent Visa to work in the UK one month ago. Following the prescribed procedure, I used the app to scan my passport and update the data on the application form. Later on, I renewed my passport, and now I am waiting to receive the new document.

in all of my academic certificates my surname has been abbreviated (only the initial as been used), where as my passport contains my Name and surname in full. Ex: Academic documents FirstName L. Passport FirstName LastName. Will this cause any issue in my visa application? If so what can I do to prevent a rejection due to this reason?
This isn't obvious from the page you linked to, but the online tool gives this result if you say that the passport was issued 30 years ago, and the first adult passport page says, somewhat ambiguously, that "you can also apply if your last UK passport was an old handwritten blue or black one."
In UK, as a Polish national I go to Manchester Polish Consulate, pay £90, give my old passport and in 3 weeks I get a new one. But you have to go personally each time. The same applies if you loose your Passport. But in EU you can travel with a valid photo id card now. So you can go home and do a lost passport thing there, but you DO not have to.

These photos are just used internally by the app (e.g. for instant face-recognition and automated comparison with the passport photo), and as soon as the step "Confirm your identity" on the online application form states "Completed" the photos are no longer used and I can be sure that I made no mistake while taking them.
