Had this album come out in 1997, Emo artists would be citing it for years to come as a major influence. Stress Fractures - Stress Fractures A project eight years in the making, Stress Fractures’ debut self-titled LP is an Emo / Pop-Punk hybrid well worth your time, despite that description being a dime a dozen these days.
So yeah, your playlists are "scene" in a technical sense. I am a emo scene kid veteran, a sceneior citizen if you will. Since 2009, and I have TONS of artists to suggest for you all. This list is more for those who are still relatively new to the scene and are trying to expand their music libraries. I got your back!
Nnamdi Ogbonnaya (folks here will like “Despondent” as well as his latest album, “BRAT”). He also played with a bunch of emo bands like IttÅ, My Dad (now Slow Mass), &c. I believe the guitarist of Yaphet Kotto was black. Super awesome, underrated band that comes to mind is The Ground is Lava.

Reply reply. WesleyMEC. •. it does apply to Fall Out Boy and Panic At The Disco, although Fall Out Boy’s first album is generally accepted as emo (same with MCR’s first album). other bands it would apply to are bands like Pierce The Veil, Sleeping With Sirens, Falling In Reverse, Black Veil Brides, etc. Reply reply.
Source. Will Killingsworth, most well known for playing guitar for Orchid and Ampere, has produced music for a lot of emo and emo adjacent bands. Some notable bands include Old Gray, Foxtails, Shizune, Blind Girls, We Were Skeletons and Portrayal of Guilt. Source.
A lot of "fake emo" stuff like Paramore, P!atD, and Fall Out Boy are all things I would consider emo-pop. It isn't Kinsella-core emo, and is certainly in a different subgenre than more of the "hardcore" emo, but it's still in the genre. A lot of Modern Baseball's stuff is more poppy than other emo-pop artists, but they're still definitively emo.
Besides encompassing the genres of Emo & Midwest Emo, the artists I have are also very adjacent to shoegaze stylistically. Sonhos Tomam Conta - Probably the farthest removed from emo, her music is emo shoegaze with a heavy influence from Blackgaze. Parannoul - One of the token “5th Wave” acts right now. His music is also Emo Shoegaze with ...
locinj. Not a bad list, but Mineral and Texas is the Reason should have had more songs on the list. A Jack with One Eye is one of the best 'emo' songs ever, crazy to think it didn't even make the list. I would have had a few songs off Clarity ahead of Sweetness too for JEW.
Glocca Morra is also great. There's stuff like Prawn, Dikembe, Oso Oso, Crash of Rhinos and The Hotelier that's worth checking out. That's all recent-ish alt/emo rock. Then there's Sunday Day Real Estate whose album Diary might be one of the best alt+emo albums ever. Also they had guys end up in the Foos.
