    Report abuse. No, it is not abandonware. MS still release updates for Windows Xp for governments, businesses, etc that pay to get updates. Several programs do not run on newer OS system and this is why many are still using it by paying for support. Plus many ATM machines run on Windows Xp, This is why there are still updates being release for it.
