The Hopewell Historic District is a national historic district which is located in East Nottingham Township and Lower Oxford Township, Chester County, Pennsylvania. The district encompasses remaining structures from the former borough of Hopewell, and was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1991. [1]
Pennsylvania Route 272 (PA 272) is a 54.7-mile-long (88.0 km) highway in southeastern Pennsylvania, in the Lancaster area. The southern terminus of the route is at the Mason–Dixon line southeast of Nottingham, where the road continues into Maryland as Maryland Route 272 (MD 272).
PA 472 southbound in East Nottingham Township. PA 472 crosses the Octoraro Lake along the East Branch Octoraro Creek into Colerain Township in Lancaster County and becomes Kirkwood Pike. [2] [4] At this point, the route enters the Pennsylvania Dutch Country of eastern Lancaster County, which is home to many Amish farms.
It is home to the 651-acre Nottingham County Park, a serpentine barrens that is listed as a National Natural Landmark. [3] A Herr's Snacks plant, which was founded in 1946, is also located in the community. [4] The U.S. Post Office for Nottingham is located on Baltimore Pike. [5]
From here, US 1 curves to the northeast and continues into East Nottingham Township, passing through a mix of farmland and woodland with some residences. The freeway skirts into the western portion of the borough of Oxford and reaches a diamond interchange with PA 472 that serves the borough.
