It is one of the largest Buddha statues in China and also in the world. The Grand Buddha at Ling Shan is a bronze Amitabha standing Buddha outdoor, weighing over 700 metric tons (690 long tons; 770 short tons). It was completed at the end of 1996. Weighing 3954 grams, the statue presents a more mobile size compared to the colossal Buddhas at Yungang and Longmen. The Buddha is seated in the lotus position , his right hand in the abhayamudra , and left hand resting on the robe, which maintains the older kasaya style.

This list of tallest statues includes completed statues that are at least 50 m (160 ft) tall. The height values in this list are measured to the highest part of the human (or animal) figure, but exclude the height of any pedestal (plinth), or other base platform as well as any mast, spire, or other structure that extends higher than the tallest figure in the monument.
Visitors have to climb 268 steps to reach the Buddha, [2] though the site also features a small winding road for vehicles to provide access for disabled people. The Buddha's right hand is raised, representing the removal of affliction, while the left rests open on his lap in a gesture of generosity.
