This is a list of state parks in Georgia.The park system of the US state of Georgia was founded in 1931 with Indian Springs State Park and Vogel State Park.Indian Springs has been operated by the state as a public park since 1825, making it perhaps the oldest state park in the United States. [1]

Burke County is a county located along the eastern border of the U.S. state of Georgia in the Piedmont. As of the 2020 census, the population was 24,596. [2] The county seat is Waynesboro. [3] Burke County is part of the Augusta-Richmond County, GA-SC metropolitan statistical area.
Waynesboro is located in the center of Burke County at (33.090482, -82.015404 U.S. Route 25 bypasses the city on the east side, while State Route 121 passes through the center as Liberty Street. To the north it is 28 miles (45 km) to downtown Augusta , and to the south it is 49 miles (79 km) to Statesboro .
Oglethorpe County was originally part of a large tract of land surrendered by Creek and Cherokee Native Americans to the Colony of Georgia in the treaty of 1773. The county itself was founded on December 19, 1793, and is named for Georgia's founder, General James Oglethorpe.
