During a school competition, Lisa has Bart sabotage Allison's Tell-Tale Heart diorama with a cow's heart in a box and hide the original diorama beneath a floorboard. Wracked with guilt, Lisa returns Allison's real diorama. Lisa and Allison both lose to Ralph Wiggum and his Star Wars figurines. Afterwards, Lisa apologizes, and the two make amends.
Meanwhile, Lisa and Shauna bond at the mall. Later, Lisa begins to treat Shauna like her big sister, which worries Marge. At Chalmers' house, he invites Homer to brew the next batch of beer by himself. Lisa encourages Shauna to try out for lead drummer. Shauna is reluctant but does it for Lisa. She impresses at the auditions and wins it.
The news states Bart is dead, but Milhouse fails to bring the good news in favor of Lisa's affection and Bob struggles to accept it. When Bart finds a phone in the bunker, he calls Marge to assure her he is alive. When Milhouse leaves the house after getting more hugs from Lisa, Bob forces him to bring him to Bart with the family right behind.
