Bluff Lake Reserve includes a pine forest, a 20 acres (8.1 ha) lake and meadow, and outcrops of quartz monzonite. The reserve includes a mountain marsh and meadow complex that contains the federally threatened Bear Valley bluegrass (Poa atropurpurea), the federally endangered Big Bear checkerbloom (Sidalcea pedata) and California dandelion (Taraxacum californicum).
Bluff Lake Nature Center consists of a variety of native habitats including wetlands, short-grass prairie, a riparian zone and wetland woodland. Thanks to its 60 year history as an airport buffer, Bluff Lake has become an urban wildlife refuge for waterfowl, shorebirds, raptors, songbirds, deer, fox, beaver, reptiles, amphibians and other types of wildlife that visit or live at the site.

Fort Humboldt State Historic Park is a California state park, located in Eureka, California, United States.Its displays interpret the former U.S. Army fort, which was staffed from 1853–1870, the interactions between European Americans and Native Americans in roughly the same period, logging equipment and local narrow gauge railroad history of the region.
The park includes a restored adobe housing a museum, and a recreated 1850s homestead, with replicas of a typical schoolhouse, wood shop, and blacksmith shop, as well as a small visitor center. The park's Morro Bay State Park Museum of Natural History has exhibits covering natural features, cultural history, Native American life, geology, and oceanography. The park also has a marina and a public golf course. Two of the Nine Sisters chain of volcanic peaks, Black Hill and Cerro Cabrillo, are within the park.
