The Cadillac STS-V is a high-performance executive car of the V-Series introduced at the 2005 Detroit Auto Show, and was available for sale in late 2005. The STS-V uses a supercharged 4.4 L version of the Northstar V8, producing 469 hp (350 kW) and 439 lb⋅ft (595 N⋅m).

The Northstar engine is a family of high-performance 90° V engines produced by General Motors between 1993 and 2011. Regarded as GM's most technically complex engine, the original double overhead cam, four valve per cylinder, aluminum block/aluminum head V8 design was developed by Oldsmobile R&D, [citation needed] but is most associated with Cadillac's Northstar series.
However, with the third-generation CTS growing larger to match the size of the 5-Series, Cadillac armed the ATS-V with the LF4 twin-turbo V6 engine, producing 464 horsepower (346 kW) and 445 pound-feet (603 N⋅m). The ATS-V is the first-ever V series Cadillac to be powered by a V6 rather than a V8.
The dual-fuel 235 hp (175 kW; 238 PS) LW2 version was able to run on petrol and autogas. The LW2 engine was based on the low-output LE0 V6.
