Milanote is designed to be an easy-to-use tool to organize ideas and projects into visual boards. That is it is a PKMS which makes very heavy use of the "infinite whiteboard" concept. I thought it would complement my other systems nicely as it was so rightbrain focused so I gave it a whirl.
Milanote is by far my favorite tool for taking notes and saving ideas. I absolutely love it and even got the subscription. The desktop version is amazing but the mobile is just impossible to use.

The .canvas file format gives users a safe way to backup their data, and it's quickly gaining support from lots of other infinite canvas tools. Most importantly: I feel that this is a better export option than the provided options currently in Milanote.

I came across Milanote and it was pretty much everything I'd been looking for in terms of functionality. I like the idea of being able to create very visual boards where I can arrange it anyway I like, add all sorts of pictures and links and even draw on it. However I can't afford the monthly sub price and the free plan is very limited.

Main thing I would like is that the alternative has something similar to Milanote's boards where its a moveable icon that you can click to open up and have a canvas to work freely in; moving notes and pictures and even draw within it (if possible) and can make boards within boards within boards etc.
Hellooo I love Milanote and using it to plot my book (and keep track of my other writing projects) has been so wonderful as someone that loves organizing things in a very moodboard-esque fashion.
