In 1974, the Pinaglabanan Shrine was unveiled in San Juan, along Pinaglabanan Street. "Pinaglabanan" is a Tagalog word for "fought over". The present-day San Juan Elementary School stands on the former grounds of the ruined El Polvorín. [12] In 2006, a museum for the Katipunan was opened by the San Juan city government located by the shrine. [13]
Bulacan's 4th provincial district consists of the same area as Bulacan's 4th legislative district. The city of San Jose del Monte used to be under this provincial district until a Supreme Court ruling in 2023 created a separate provincial district for the city. Two board members are elected from this provincial district.

San Jose del Monte, which became a city in 2000, was separated from the fourth district of Bulacan on December 18, 2003 by virtue of Republic Act No. 9230 [2] which amended the city charter (Republic Act No. 8797) [3] authored by then Congressman Angelito Sarmiento, and elected itsown representative starting in the 2004 elections.
