State Route 720 (SR 720) is an east–west state highway in the western portion of the U.S. state of Ohio. The highway runs from its western terminus at SR 65 approximately 3.75 miles (6.04 km) north of Jackson Center to its eastern terminus at US 33 in Russells Point. SR 720 was designated in the late 1930s.
West Lafayette was laid out in 1850 by Robert Shaw and William Wheeler. [3] [4] In 1855, the Steubenville and Indiana Railroad was built through the new town. The line became known as the Panhandle Route and was operated in the Pennsylvania Railroad [5] system and currently by the Columbus and Ohio River Railroad (Ohio Central Railroad System).
Glen Este, Ohio is named for early resident David K. Este, [1] who owned a farm near the intersection of Glen Este-Withamsville Road and the railroad tracks, now State Route 32. He was an officer of the Cincinnati, Georgetown and Portsmouth Railroad and had a combination station and post office established on his land.
