The Shelby County Agricultural Society agreed to host the second fair in the fall of 1856. During World War I, the military used the Mid-South Fair to find recruits.In 1908, the name was changed to the Tri-State Fair to encourage more people in areas around Memphis to attend the fair, but this name did not stick.
However, Mid-South Fair went on with plans to auction the assets off. Mid-South Fair brought in an auctioneer group and the auction was held on June 21, 2006. Most of the rides were sold, including the Zippin Pippin, which was eventually bought by the city of Green Bay, Wisconsin and rebuilt at their city-owned Bay Beach Amusement Park .
Midtown was also home to the Mid-South Fair for 152 years. However, the year 2008 was the last year that the Mid-South Fair was held in Memphis. Starting in 2009, the Mid-South Fair was held on newly acquired land at Tunica, Mississippi. [11] [12] [13]

American recording artist Kelly Clarkson performed in the arena on February 9, 2019, during her Meaning of Life Tour to a sold-out crowd of over 7,000 patrons and grossed over $400,000. [7]
