Coleman Barracks/Coleman Army Airfield (ICAO: ETOR) is a United States Army military installation located in the Sandhofen district of Mannheim, Germany. It is assigned to U.S. Army, Europe ( USAREUR ) and administered by the U.S. Army Installation Management Command -Europe (IMCOM-E).
Sandhofen is a northern borough (Stadtbezirk) of Mannheim, Baden-Württemberg, Germany.The US Army is present in Sandhofen with Coleman Airfield and Coleman Barracks. The US Army's only military prison in Europe used to be located on that base.
Opened on 1 October 1941. Began training United States Army Air Corps flying cadets under contract to Coleman Flying School under 304th Flying Training Detachment. Assigned to United States Army Air Forces Gulf Coast Training Center (later Central Flying Training Command) as a primary (level 1) pilot training airfield. had four local axillary airfields for emergency and overflow landings.

A previous confinement facility was located on the outskirts of Coleman Army Airfield in Mannheim, Germany. In anticipation of realignment of US forces in Europe, all facilities in Mannheim were to be closed, [2] and a replacement facility was planned in Sembach. The new confinement facility opened on Sembach Kaserne in 2014. [1]
