This feature is believed to be unique among Maine's town houses. [2] The town of Turner was incorporated in 1787, and its earliest town meetings were held in a local church. From 1822 to 1830 meetings were held in a local school, at which time the town engaged in a series of acrimonious meetings concerning the location of a dedicated town house.
The highway crosses SR 22 on the way out of town. Entering the town of Gorham, US 202 and SR 4 cross SR 112 again before entering the downtown area and junction with SR 25, a major interregional route connecting to Portland and points west. The three routes are cosigned along Main Street, crossing SR 114 in the center of town.
It is included in both the Lewiston-Auburn, Maine Metropolitan Statistical Area and the Lewiston-Auburn, Maine Metropolitan New England City and Town Area. The community is located at the intersection of Maine State Route 4 and Maine State Route 219, 17 miles (27 km) north of Auburn. North Turner has a post office with ZIP code 04266. [2] [3]
SR 108 carries the name Canton Road as it heads towards the town center. After passing Brettuns Pond, SR 108 makes a turn onto Church Street towards the east and SR 4 .
