As for your Flame desire, if ever their was a reef safe Angel, the first type would be from the Genicanthus genus. After those, Centropyge Angels have a pretty good track record in reef tanks. Of course, some are better than others. One Flame Angel could be a yeoman tank mate, whereas the next one could be a disaster.

Wantanabei and Lamarck’s angelfish need minimum of 125 gallon, and I’m more wondering what the “flameback angelfish”, they look similar to the Pygmy (cherub) angelfish and I’m wondering if those will bother any LPS or clams.

Flame angelfish have a very long larval stage, upwards of 100 days or so, with low success rates. This pair spawns fairly early in the evening, which caught us by surprise. I'll update this post with some egg photos next week. Here's the female giving us her curious stare.

Active Member. I have always wanted a Flame Angelfish but have not do that as I always goes with corals. However, I think I am ready to risk it and go for it on my 60gal Reef Tank. I´ve heard is a hit or miss with them when nipping at corals. I currently have zoas, mushrooms, hammers and some leptastrea and cyphastrea.

Reaction score. 811. Location. Southlake. Rating - 0%. 0 0 0. I have both a coral beauty and a flame angel. Both are model citizens in the reef and haven't picked at any corals... that said, it's partly luck and partly keeping them well fed. I'd recommend feeding them well, several times a day... mysis, brine, marine cuisine work well for me.

Absolutely, but the aggression towards other fish will be greater. If you can give enough swimming room, and multiple feeding a day I believe the flame angel would be easier to keep. Though they are both gorgeous looking fist, I think flame angels can be a tad bit reef safe. and. Mar 16, 2018.

You will get as many different answers to question 1 as there are dwarf angelfish- each person will have their favorite. The best way to avoid coral predation is either only stock with 'nasty' tasting corals- Duncans, Euphllias, tough softies, etc. Or avoid dwarf angels. Oct 29, 2020. #3.

It's neat they are making progress in captive breeding. What's not neat is that they sell them for 4x what a normal flame goes for, also the lack of color sucks as well. That fish and any I've seen from that program are all pale and lack that deep rich red color a wild flame has. The people who captive breed saltwater really need to re-consider ...

  10. Will Flame angels go down in price soon?

    www.reef2reef.com/threads/will-flame-angels-go-down-in-price-soon.747759

TSMaquatics has them for now for $89.99 Their fish have been in quarantine for 30+ days before they release for sale, medicated and disease free. I purchased many fish from them... never any issues. Just go right into the DT after acclimation. Fish that have been professionally quarantined is the only way to go IMO.

Hello all, I’m currently eyeing on getting dwarf angelfish for my FOWLR. I’m thinking of getting a flame angelfish. Problem is, I haven’t successfully kept one. The last one probably died of velvet, I kept the angels at 0.35ppm Cupramine for 4 weeks (I think that’s where the problem was).
