  2. Mid Size SUV for towing : r/traveltrailers - Reddit

The reason you see everyone say you need the truck is because, well, it seems most people end up getting one sooner or later. I tried to fight it by going Suburban, but an 8,100# towing capacity with a 1,450# payload wasn't enough for a trailer that weighed 6,100# on the scale. Towing a camper near the vehicle's limits is miserable.

Best long term towing SUV Canadian Sale I am in the market for a new long term SUV daily family driver that needs to tow a trailer (don’t have yet but suspect 5kLbs is the minimum) This is my first non “sports” car purchase, but I just had my second boy, and my wife said it’s time for a minivan and I said it’s time for a SUV!

  4. What suv/truck should I get for towing trailers

As a result, they are usually the best vehicles they make. I wouldn’t have the same reservations buying an F150 for example as I would a midsize car from Ford. Nobody makes big trucks like America. Towing a 7000lb trailer is actually near the top end of safe capability for even a half ton truck like the Tundra or F-150.

I'm pretty sure most of the lux midsize SUV's all have an option for >5,000# towing capacity - BMW/Land Rover/Mercedes/Porsche, etc. But, those are pricey. I tend to over subscribe for towing capacity but maybe you know the number you need.

  6. Best do it all SUV for towing, sportiness, and road trips

damn, 25 -> 16mpg is a ~36% drop towing only 2900 lbs. For context, my mpg drops from 36 to ~24mpg (similar 33%) but when towing a 25ft, 6000lb boat+trailer. If I had a 2900lb package and it was small enough that the front area was smaller than the car (negligible drag impact) I might be able to hit 30mpg towing that. But the point here isn't ...

  7. Best SUV for towing ~20ft camper : r/GoRVing - Reddit

TFL Truck on YouTube does some very good towing-focused reviews on trucks and SUVs. Just don’t forget that tongue weight counts against your payload number, and doesn’t include the trailer battery, propane tank, or weight distribution hitch. Any given SUV variant of a truck will have a lower payload capacity.

Hey! I am looking to see everyone recommendations on a good suv for towing a boat. I haven’t purchased a boat yet but I’m thinking of maybe looking at the 4Runner. I need to tow approximately 3500-4000 pounds and the 4Runner I am looking at tows 5k. I am also open to any other recommendations. I am preferring more of a SUV over a pickup truck.

4Runners are super reliable but aren’t actually all that great at towing… Lexus GX460 is rated for 6500 lbs and is super reliable. Fuel economy isn’t great and used ones are kinda pricey though. There’s a fair few mid size Euro SUV’s that can tow that no problem.

  10. SUV for Towing a Travel Trailer? : r/GoRVing - Reddit

For Colorado towing, go with the highest tow & payload rated SUV that the manufacturer offers… go with a V8 and get a WDH (GMC/Chevy = Tahoe/Yukon, Ford = Expedition, Dodge = Durango, Nissan = Armada, Toyota = Sequoia, etc).

  11. Looking for advice about a good SUV to use for towing an RV

The EL has better gears for towing and a longer wheelbase for more stability. If you don’t need 4x4 id skip it b cause the added weight really cuts into your payload capacity. If you’re looking used, then a Ford Excursion with the 7.3L diesel is a great option. It is a 3/4 ton SUV (Expedition is a half ton) and that Diesel is super reliable.
