The company was founded as The Brick Warehouse LP by brothers, John, Fred, and Bill Comrie.The first warehouse opened on September 1, 1971 in Edmonton, Alberta.Its first expansion was to Fort McMurray, Alberta in the 1970s and later acquired a competitor in the city of Calgary.

The town was settled in the 1850s, and a post office opened in 1857, with Cicero J. Corder serving as the first postmaster. By 1890, it had a population of 40, and had a brick factory, a school, two gins, two stores and two mills, one a steam mill operated by Theodore Stewig, which was the largest business. All but one store remained by 1896.
The ballpark opened April 16, 1998 with the RedHawks losing to visiting Edmonton, 6-3, in front of 14,066 fans—the third-largest crowd for an Oklahoma City home opener behind 14,801 in 1992 and 14,488 in 1987. The county has had four courthouses. The first building built by the county was a simple wood structure built to serve as the county jail. The second courthouse was built in 1854 and was a simple two story square structure. A third courthouse, a three-story red brick building designed by E.T. Heiner, was built in 1893. [2]

The Tornillo tent city was a temporary immigrant detention facility for children located in Tornillo, Texas and operated by BCFS on behalf of the Department of Health and Human Services' Office of Refugee Resettlement. The Department termed it an "emergency influx care facility" and named it the Tornillo Influx Facility. [1]
