The 14th Street Crosstown Line is a public transit line in Manhattan, New York City, running primarily along 14th Street from Chelsea or the West Village to the Lower East Side. Originally a streetcar line , it is now the M14 bus route , operated by the New York City Transit Authority .
Since October 2019, vehicle restrictions are in place on 14th Street between Third and Ninth Avenues from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. [13] [14] The only vehicles that can use the busway are buses, trucks making deliveries on 14th Street, emergency and Access-A-Ride vehicles, and local traffic traveling for no more than one block.
These are the first Bus routes to take advantage of an Exclusive 14th Street Busway [99] that went into effect in October 2019. [ 42 ] [ 43 ] Both the M14A and M14D are based out of Michael J. A 2021 XDE40 (9573) on the 14th St-6th Ave bound M7 at West 45th Street/7th Avenue in June 2024. The M7 route begins at the intersection of Sixth Avenue and 14th Street. Northbound it shares Sixth Avenue with the M55 between 14th Street and 44th Street, as well as the M5 above 31st Street. Southbound it shares Seventh Avenue with the M20.
