The Borough of Tunbridge Wells is a local government district with borough status in Kent, England. It takes its name from its main town, Royal Tunbridge Wells . The borough also contains the towns of Paddock Wood and Southborough , along with numerous villages and surrounding rural areas.
Following population growth in the late 19th century, largely associated with the town's development as a residential area, Tunbridge Wells became a municipal borough in 1888. [4] The new corporation acquired a large site to the east of Mount Pleasant Road for the purposes of the development of a civic complex in 1895. [5]
