The name of the company was subsequently changed to National Highways and Infrastructure Development Corporation Ltd. and started functioning w.e.f. 18 July 2014. [1] It was created to develop, maintain and manage the national highways, strategic roads and other infrastructure of India.
It is headed by Director General (Road Development) and Special Secretary to the Government of India. [4] The Road wing of MoRTH is further divided into five Project Zones.
