Brentwood is a city in Williamson County, Tennessee, United States. The population was 45,373 as of the 2020 United States census . [ 6 ] It is a suburb of Nashville and included in the Nashville metropolitan area .
The first was built as a single log pen home around 1800 by John Winstead, Sr., who was one of the first white settlers in the Williamson County area, having arrived in 1799. Around 1820, by which time Winstead had extensive land holdings and owned 10 slaves , he built a second single pen log cabin, oriented diagonally to the first cabin.
According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the county has a total area of 584 square miles (1,510 km 2), of which 582.8 square miles (1,509 km 2) is land and 1.2 square miles (3.1 km 2) (0.2%) is water. [12] The Harpeth River and its tributary, the Little Harpeth River, are the county's primary streams.
