Anuoluwapo Juwon Opeyori (born 1 June 1997) is a Nigerian badminton player. [3] He started playing badminton together with his brother in 2005, and later he was selected to join Nigeria senior national team in 2017. [4] Opeyori won the African Championships and African Games in the singles event in 2019.
Badminton made its debut in the African Games in 2003. The first six nations to compete in badminton at the Games were Nigeria, Egypt, South Africa, Kenya, Mauritius and Seychelles. Six main events were held, which were men's singles, women's singles, men's doubles, women's doubles, mixed doubles and the mixed team event. [1]
It is managed by the Badminton Federation of Nigeria, the governing body of badminton in Nigeria. [1] Nigeria was one of the seven African countries that formed the Badminton Confederation of Africa on 31 August 1977. The country first competed in the African Badminton Championships in 1980. Nigeria made their debut in the Sudirman Cup in 1999.
