The Badminton Federation of Nigeria is the national governing body that oversees and manages affairs related to the sport of badminton in Nigeria. The federation was formed in 1998. [ 2 ] The body is affiliated to the Badminton Confederation of Africa It controls all badminton related activities across Nigeria.
Badminton made its debut in the African Games in 2003. The first six nations to compete in badminton at the Games were Nigeria, Egypt, South Africa, Kenya, Mauritius and Seychelles. Six main events were held, which were men's singles, women's singles, men's doubles, women's doubles, mixed doubles and the mixed team event. [1]

[1] Nigeria was one of the seven African countries that formed the Badminton Confederation of Africa on 31 August 1977. The country first competed in the African Badminton Championships in 1980. The 8th All Africa Games, also known as Abuja 2003, were held from 5–17 October 2003 in Abuja, Nigeria. 53 countries participated in 23 sports. [1] The main venue was the newly constructed Abuja Stadium. The organizing committee was headed by Nigerian Amos Adamu. [2]
