Real Salt Lake (RSL) is an American professional soccer club based in the Salt Lake City metropolitan area. The club competes in Major League Soccer (MLS) as a member of the Western Conference . Founded in 2004, the club began play in 2005 as an expansion team .
The 2025 Real Salt Lake season is planned to be the team's 21st season in Major League Soccer, the top division of the American soccer pyramid. The team also plans to compete in both the 2025 Leagues Cup and the 2025 CONCACAF Champions Cup , based on standings from the 2024 season .
In seasons 2021 and 2022, the Club fielded two teams in the United Premier Soccer League (UPSL) – Sporting Arizona FC and SAFC Sahuaros. Sporting Arizona FC coached by Eric Junis Aguilar won the UPSL Division 1 title. In season 2023, the Club has fielded the two teams in the inaugural Southwest Premier League – Arizona Premier.
On November 16, 2017, Real Salt Lake of Major League Soccer announced that it had acquired a franchise in the National Women's Soccer League. [4] On November 20, 2017, the league announced that FC Kansas City of the National Women's Soccer League would fold their club, and the team's player contracts, draft picks, and other rights would be transferred to the new Salt Lake City club. He attended Dublin Coffman High School, where he played one year of varsity soccer. He also played soccer with the Columbus Crew academy between 2012 and 2017, before spending a season with Ohio Premier, who he helped to the ENPL national title in 2018 and was named to the ECNL All-American and ECNL All-Midwest teams. The Real Monarchs are a professional soccer club playing in the MLS Next Pro, a third division league of American soccer. The team is an affiliate of the Major League Soccer (MLS) club Real Salt Lake. Real Monarchs are based in the Real Salt Lake training facility in Herriman, Utah, playing out of Zions Bank Stadium.
As a teenager, Lennon played with the Real Salt Lake youth academy in Arizona. He signed with English team Liverpool in 2015, and joined their youth teams. Lennon returned to Real Salt Lake in early 2017, ahead of agreeing a season-long loan with the club.
He joined the Real Salt Lake Arizona Academy in 2012. He was part of RSL's first national championship Academy team, scoring the winning goal in the championship match. He was then named to the USSDA Western Conference “Starting XI” and was named as an NSCAA High School All-American for the 2012-13 Academy season.
