Minimalism was an art movement that began during the 1960s. This list of minimalist artists are primarily artists whose works were done in the 1960s, and are considered minimal, although some artists subsequently radically changed their work in the 1970s and in subsequent decades. Terrence Mitchell Riley (born June 24, 1935) is an American composer and performing musician [1] best known as a pioneer of the minimalist school of composition. [2] Influenced by jazz and Indian classical music, his work became notable for its innovative use of repetition, tape music techniques, improvisation, and delay systems. [2]
