Here's some interesting text about Dungeon Mastering from the AD&D Dungeon Master's Guide that I bet a lot of people have never seen, it's the Afterward at the end of the book. It's the only part of the book that is written in all capital letters. AFTERWORD IT IS THE SPIRIT OF THE GAME, NOT THE LETTER OF THE RULES, WHICH IS IMPORTANT.

I have the other two core books purchased, the player's handbook and monster manual, and was wondering if purchasing the dungeon master's guide would be worth the $30 (amazon). Knowing the players guide should be enough. Back in the day, we just jammer out games without any rule lawyering. We had good fun! That said, if you want to have the experience as it was intended, or if you want to do a Dungeon crawler, you might want to read it.
