I use pecan for everything from beef to pork to fish. It’s especially good on homemade sausage. For briskets I’ll do post oak and pecan every time. Ribs I’ll do pecan and apple. Chicken I’ll do straight pecan. Salmon I’ll do cedar and lite pecan. Oysters I’ll do straight pecan. Pulled pork I do straight pecan, and spritz with apple.
Maybe I’m crazy or sensitive to the flavors/sweetness, but I feel like it’s super strong and sweet with the maple and pecan flavors. I used just a splash of the Trader Joe’s brown sugar oat milk creamer and it was delicious, bordering on too much to drink every day. Going to try to make it into lattes or just use more milk next time.
I love how well this captures the essence of bad JCS/Matt Orchard-style videos, where everything is a "technique" and obvious things (like Pecan sitting with his arms folded) are pointed out as though they're expert analysis.
Southern Pecan Pie: Beat 3 eggs thoroughly with 2/3 cup sugar, dash salt, 1 cup dark corn syrup, and 1/3 cup butter or margarine, melted. Add 1 cup pecan halves. Pour into 9-inch unbaked pastry shell. Bake in moderate oven (350 F) 50 minutes or until knife inserted halfway between center and edge comes out clean. Cool.
There should be carameley globules on top of the crust, and pecans on top of that. For a chocolate pecan pie, or a chocolate pecan bourbon pecan pie, I often find it as a choice between making it more caramely or more chocolatey. For a more caramely flavor, Toll House chocolate chips are best. Otherwise a chocolate mixture is better.
So as the title suggests, my father-in-law has a severe nut allergy and I'm wondering if anyone knows if smoking with pecan wood (my preferred wood) will trigger an allergic reaction in someone who eats meat that's smoked with it. Kind of an odd question, but I can't seem to find a solid answer anywhere, and don't really want to experiment on him.
Really enjoying the new Maple Pecan! I attended a Masterclass a a Boutique showcasing multiple recipes for the new pod. It tasted good both hot and over ice, with a small spoon of maple syrup and brown sugar sprinkled on top.
OK,,, I probably know the answer to this one. But I love Pecans....and live in NW Oregon. Summers are pretty warm but up here in the hills, we do get snow off and on during the winter.
Had plenty of the Maple Pecan in stock. Plus, they were tasting it as the 7.77 oz mug size. I asked about brewing it using the expert mode to get a double espresso, but she said they won't do it in store for the tasting. I was told at the boutique that the Maple Pecan would be online in the US on March 6th. I think I've read that before on this ...
I tried the butter pecan in an iced coffee with cream. I got 4 pumps. Way too much for me. I was not able to enjoy it and became incredulous of the hype. This morning I tried 2 swirls in an XL hot coffee. Pretty solid. Figured I’d give it one more try. Got a frozen coffee after work (don’t judge two trips in one day).
