Nail buffing is the act of polishing the nail using buffers of successively finer grit in order to make nails look more consistent and shiny. [1] A paste is used to fill ridges on nail surfaces. [2] Buffing is also done prior to the application of nail products or artificial nails to help the product adhere to the nail.
David Gestetner eventually moved to London, England and in 1881 established the Gestetner Cyclograph Company to produce stencils, styli and ink rollers. He guarded his invention through patents. He also invented other notable devices such as the nail-clipper and a type of ball-point pen.

Nail files may either be emery boards, ceramic, glass, crystal, plain metal files or metal files coated with corundum.
Stencils are usually applied in the home with a paint or roller brush along wall borders and as trim. They can also be applied with a painted sponge for a textured effect. Stencil templates can be purchased or constructed individually. Typically they are constructed of flexible plastics, including acetate, mylar, and vinyl.
Glass nail file — a file for fingernails care — is made of glass. In the course of manufacturing, the material is tempered using the traditional methods of glaziers. As a result, the nail file gains a unique wear resistance. [citation needed] Nail files which are made of tempered glass can withstand falls onto the floor and intensive daily ...
