There are gay pride parade because people fought for them, for decades. And of course he’ll say that it would upset people and not be well accepted. Which, sure, but the first Pride was a riot against police abuse. Pride parades weren’t accepted, and in many areas are still fought against.
Pride is different from being proud. The "straight Pride flag" is fine as a symbol of being straight, but it shouldn't be called a Pride flag and it shouldn't be part of the queer community. Calling it a Pride flag shows a shallow understanding of what Pride is, and trivializes the fight we've been through and the fight we are fighting to this day.
Exactly. I'm straight and claiming straight pride is pretty fucking cringe. Pride movements seem to me to be more about being part of a group that doesn't think they're being treated equally and fairly. Claiming straight pride when it's our cultural "default" feels like those people think they are somehow threatened by those who aren't straight.

Okay so the title basically says it all, but apparently in Boston, they are holding a "Straight Pride" parade to celebrate being straight. I have only really heard about it from Mr. Atheist on YouTube, and a lot of people seem up in arms. With this post I have a couple of goals: Learn more about the circumstances of the Straight Pride Parade.
