    While in desktop mode I turned off my Wi-Fi. Turned my Wi-Fi back on and opened the program on my desktop. This initiated the download. I was having the same issue where it would open the console for about a second and then close out. I have no idea what causes this and don't claim to be an expert but it's what worked for me.
