I've got a Gen 1 small block 350 with the casting number 14093638 and the front stamp V0709USA. It currently has an Edelbrock 3704 tbi intake on it with 10088113 aluminum heads. The 4 inner bolt holes on the intake were, I assume, drilled out to fit the bolt angle on the heads by the previous...
Should be 2 set of characters, one it the engine code and the other the VIN derivative. Look something like the following. T1024TFD engine code If the first letter in the suffix is the letter T, its a truck engine. C its a car engine. 18N300001 VIN derivative 1 - Chevy, C - Chevy trucks, T - GMC trucks 8 - model year is 1968
Making your own valve body kit. The TH400 doesn't require anything super fancy to get a firm shifting unit. You need to drill the feed holes shown in this picture. I recommend drilling them both to .125". The 3rd feed hole can go bigger, but I would recommend .140" as the high end. You also block the 2-3 accumulator feed hole in the valve body.
The reason you don't see a lot of Turbocharged Chevy engines running around is it is hellishly expensive to do properly. Banks used to sell a real Twin Turbo kit for the Small Block Chevy - it was about $12,000. This is my engine building speech, slightly modified for this occasion There is very little profit margin in engine parts of any type.
If you chase the uncleaned areas of the bore, you end up with excessive bore size, leaving you with a noisy oil burning piece of crap, or more accurately, an engine requiring a proper overbore and new pistons. If you want to hone and rering an engine yourself without proper measuring tools, remember to only make about 6 strokes per cylinder.

Camshafts influence your engine's power output since they control how your engine will run. Camshafts are identified by (usually) the last 4 digits of the part number and a casting symbol. These markings will usually be in the center of the camshaft, obviously in between the valve lobes.
Chevy Small Block - Engine Block Casting Numbers Notes (for below): "High Power" is the maximum rate HP this block was used for, "Low Power" is the lowest rated horsepower RPO engine the block was used in. "Main Caps" is the number of bolts holding the cap. A "two-bolt" main, or a four-bolt main.
But the farm is still in my family. One of those engines is a 327 stamped with 5Q. I dont know the casting numbers, but ol Uncle Arvil swore by the chevy 327. The only reason I know about the 5Q is after Uncle Arvil passed, I was recruited to rebuild one of the engines as a cheap temp fix until the family can replace all 7 of the 327s with diesels.
