Bridgend (English: / b r ɪ ˈ dʒ ɛ n d /; Welsh: Pen-y-bont ar Ogwr or just Pen-y-bont, meaning "the end of the bridge on the Ogmore") [2] is a town in the Bridgend County Borough of Wales, 20 miles (32 km) west of Cardiff and 20 miles (32 km) east of Swansea.

Bridgend was founded between 1885–86 to serve as housing for the Champfleurie Oil Works in Linlithgow before its closure in 1902. [3] Currently the town consists mostly of Council housing and is home to local amenities such as a primary school, community centre, and golf course.
