DPS NTPC Korba is one of the satellite schools in the chain of schools run by DPS. This is the first DPS school of the region. The power plant is the first power plant of NTPC. [2] [3] It sources coal from Jayant and Bina mines and water from Rihand Reservoir. The states benefitting from this power plant are Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Rajasthan, Punjab, Haryana and Himachal Pradesh and the Union Territories of Delhi, Chandigarh and Jammu and Kashmir.
The project was originally proposed in 1999 but got delayed because Coal India Limited objected to the location of the power plant and wanted NTPC to relocate the power plant as it was coming up on site having 6 billion tonnes of coal underneath it. Coal India Limited withdrew the coal linkage to the plant in 2008.
