I bought an Aqua-Vu Scout 2 weeks ago. The first place I tried it was on West Okobji. The picture was great, but I have a hard time telling which way the camera is pointing, and when I turned the cable to turn the camera it would get to my jig and then it would like flop over and send the camera beyond my jig.
I have the aqua view 715 too. Love it, screen is good, can see a fairly long way in clearer water. I drill 5 or 6 holes, use the vex to see the depth/ weedline a then drop the camera in the most promising couple to see exactly where I’m at. Really helped teach me about the way fish weeds etc show up on my vex too.
One thing I can suggest is to set two camera side by side in the store. Point the cameras at the same object across the room and then look at the color (if any) and the detail. From the cameras I’ve seen and I try to look at them all, the MarCum shows MUCH more detail then it’s competition. I’ll never say “trust me”…go look yourself.
I wish they had a way to secure it better. That being said everything else about the unit I love. The 120 degree view is great. The camera surprisingly stays balanced and still for the most part. The clarity underwater is descent as I was in 30fow at night on tonka and could see walleyes from quite a distance and was suprised by that. The ...
I do wish that there was a decent comparison video out there with the marcum vs aqua vu vs vexilar cameras out there. I was thinking about pulling the trigger, but I would like to see a side-by-side-by-side comparison of a dozen or so cameras to see if you can spend $350 or you have to shoot $800+.
Both cameras use 1080p sensors, so image quality should be comparable when output to an HDTV at 1080p resolution. The built-in display on the Pursuit is 720p, whereas the Quest HD is below HD spec at 800 x 480. It also depends if you want to hole hop (go with Pursuit HD) or remain stationary (go with Quest HD).
How do the “new” cameras w/ LEDs/infrared lights work in deeper/stained water? Mostly fish LOW and after New Years pretty much 24-30 FOW. Old Aqua View worthless in those conditions.
– Superior image quality over the Aqua-Vu 715c especially in low light conditions. The Marcum has 2 LED lights where the Aqua-Vu has 6 or 8 but the Marcum camera shows a wider view and requires less light with a less grainy image. This will come in handy if you fish at dusk, dawn or fish the night bite.
I love my AquaVu micro 5 Pro. One issue that is often overlooked is the cable management. The patented cable reel on the back of the AquaVu makes deploying and storing the camera both easy and fast.
