The 2023–24 season was Chelsea Football Club's 118th year in existence and 35th consecutive season in the top flight of English football. Prior to this season, former Chelsea captain César Azpilicueta left the club at the end of his contract after eleven consecutive seasons, signing for Atlético Madrid in his native Spain.
