Southard [4] [5] Don Green, the handbook's editor-in-chief, holds a B.S. in petroleum engineering from the University of Tulsa, and M.S. and PhD. Degrees in chemical engineering from the University of Oklahoma.
Perry taught at the University of Oklahoma from 1958 to 1964, and was department director of Chemical Engineering from 1961 to 1963. He also taught at the University of Rochester and the University of Delaware. With Sidney D. Kirkpatrick and Cecil H. Chilton, Perry supervised the production of the 4th edition, published in 1963.
